Outfitters bring 30 years of experience to Lake Fork Guest Ranch

PLATORO—Huge Peaks, lakes and the Conejos River provide stunning views form the Lake Fork Guest Ranch. The ranch, located in Southern Colorado’s San Juan mountains about 40 miles west of Antonito Colorado, is a prime spot for fly fishing and exploring the area on horseback.

When the last of the snow melts off the mountains, WildHorse outfitters Inc. will open the Lake Fork Guest Ranch to anyone looking to take a fishing trip on one of the best rivers in Colorado or just want to enjoy the beautiful mountains and lakes in the comfort of a cabin. WildHorse Outfitters recently took over the operation of the guest ranch and bring with them 30 years of trail experience. They plan on opening May 30 and will continue providing trips and lodging until the snows of fall put an end to the season.

The Conejos River, with its many tributaries, is an excellent fly fishing river. The Lake Fork of the Conejos River flows through ranch property and in these waters one will find rainbow, brown, cutthroat and brook trout. There are also a number of mountain lakes around the guest ranch, which can be reached by horseback or on foot. WildHorse Outfitters are geared to provide wilderness fishing trips and pack trips. They can either do a drop camp or full service camp for three or more days. Guest can also take overnight pack trips and day rides.

For those who prefer to sleep indoors, Lake Fork Guest Ranch has A- frame chalets and 2-bedroom cabins available. Each has its own kitchen and fireplace for cozy evenings. All have a spectacular view of the mountains and Valley.
